Rachel steps up to new Director role at Hughes Paddison

Cheltenham based Hughes Paddison has announced the promotion of one of its solicitors, Rachel Stewart, to the role of Director. She joins their senior management team on 1 July 2011.

Rachel first joined Hughes Paddison in April 2010 as an Associate Solicitor in the Litigation Department. Since then she has been advising businesses and individuals on a wide range of contentious issues. Rachel specialises in commercial and civil litigation, and her particular strength is her experience in management and contract disputes. She is also experienced in professional negligence, property disputes, business debt collection and contentious probate.

Managing Director, Jane Brothwood, commented on Rachel’s appointment:
“ Rachel has made an excellent contribution to Hughes Paddison since she joined us last year. She has provided a much sharper focus to our commercial offering for businesses of all sizes, particularly in the area of litigation. Equally Rachel’s passion, drive and sense of humour make her an excellent ambassador for the firm. I am confident she will make an even greater contribution as a Director and help shape the firm’s strategic direction for years to come”.

Commenting on her appointment, Rachel Stewart said:
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the management team at this exciting stage in the firm’s development. Hughes Paddison has an impressive track record of growth and development, and is now making significant strides into the commercial sector. When I first joined I was attracted by a combination of the depth of experience in the firm and their creative and innovative approach to clients’ cases. Since I joined I have come to appreciate the extent to which these qualities are enhanced by the firm’s personable approach. It is a very friendly, enthusiastic firm.”

In addition to her day to day responsibilities heading up the Litigation team, Rachel is also actively involved in the firm’s marketing activity and training program.

Rachel is originally from Northampton, and was previously a partner at a Northampton firm of solicitors, Max Engel LLP. Prior to that she was a solicitor at Tollers LLP in Northampton, after starting her legal career at Freeth Cartwright LLP in Nottingham. She relocated to the Cotswolds for family reasons, and is enjoying settling down in such a vibrant part of the country.

Rachel is married to Christopher, a lawyer in Worcester and Birmingham, and she has two stepsons. She has a passion for travel, within Britain and overseas, and for exploring places of historical interest through membership of the National Trust, English Heritage and The Woodland Trust. Rachel is a keen cyclist, and time permitting, enjoys gardening and tending an allotment (with varying degrees of success).
