Trainee Solicitors

In 2005 Hughes Paddison embarked on a programme of offering two Training Contracts per year to run from the following March.  The Firm views this as an investment for the future, enabling us to train the new solicitors who will be the lifeblood of the Firm.  In the first three completed years of the scheme, we have been able to offer positions to 7 of the 8 solicitors who have completed their training with us, hence Jenny, Nadia, Catherine, Katie, Doug, Kelly and Angela are now all valued members of the team.

We have taken 2 new trainee solicitors every year since 2005 but in March 2010 we broke with tradition and only offered one position to Leigh Bowen.  Leigh was then joined in July 2010 by Louise Rhys-Thomas. 

Louise had started with the Firm in 2006 in a non-fee-earning role in our Family Law department.  Whilst working for the firm she studied for her legal practice qualifications on day release and started taking more and more responsibility.  In July 2010 she was offered and accepted a Training Contract.

At September 2010 Damon Brookes joined the Firm signing a Training Contract.  Damon will complete his training and will qualify along with Leigh and Louise in March 2012.  He had previously gained experience under a Training Contract with a solicitors practice in Reading and we are pleased he has decided to conclude his training with Hughes Paddison.

We have continued to recruit trainee solicitors when we have been able to find the calibre of recruit we want to put the Firm's resources into training for a long term career in the law.  We found one such in Danielle Vincent who commenced her Training Contract in March 2011.  We are still on the look out for law graduates who will have passed their LPC by Spring 2012 and meet our rigorous criteria, but are not inviting applications for the time being
