Welcoming Two New Faces to Our Family Law Team

– Sarah Maxwell and Fern Bowkett –

At Hughes Paddison, we’re proud of the strong reputation our Family Team has built over the years – not just for our legal expertise, but for our caring and supportive approach during what can be one of the most challenging times in a person’s life.

That’s why we’re so pleased to welcome two fantastic new additions to the department: Sarah Maxwell and Fern Bowkett, both highly skilled family solicitors who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and a real passion for helping clients navigate separation with clarity, confidence and compassion.

Meet Sarah Maxwell, Family Solicitor

Sarah brings with her an impressive background in criminal defence, having worked in the field locally for 17 years before transitioning into family law in 2021. Since then, she has built a strong and varied family practice – advising clients on everything from divorce and financial matters to pre-nuptial agreements, child arrangements and injunctions.

Clients immediately warm to Sarah’s friendly and down-to-earth manner. She is friendly, approachable and is particularly skilled in offering reassurance alongside sound legal advice at what can be a difficult time.

Meet Fern Bowkett, Family Solicitor

Fern qualified as a solicitor in 2023 and has quickly made her mark as a thoughtful, determined and highly capable family lawyer. With a strong academic foundation and solid experience working in both criminal and family law, she now focuses solely on family matters and takes pride in guiding clients through the legal process with care and clarity.

Fern’s dedication extends beyond the office. She’s an active fundraiser for Asthma UK, a keen 10k runner and a competitive hockey player. When she’s not on the pitch, she’s out walking in the countryside with her family’s much-loved dogs, Darcey and Teddy.
