1. Apply online
Send us your CV and a short cover letter telling us why you’re a great fit. Keep it sharp and focussed on why you are applying. We are looking for clear motivation, an understanding of our work, and evidence of the skills and qualities you will bring to the role.
Please send your application to Ursula Day, HR Manager at ud@hughes-paddison.co.uk by 27 February 2026.
2. First-stage interview
If you have been selected, you’ll be invited to meet with members of our team for a focused conversation about your experience, motivation and how you approach challenges. It’s straightforward, honest, and designed to get to know you. You can also ask questions about Hughes Paddison and our training contract.
3. Assessment centre
Shortlisted candidates will join us for a hands-on assessment centre day at our offices in Cheltenham. Expect practical exercises, teamwork tasks, and a closer look at how you think, communicate, and collaborate under pressure – nothing gimmicky, just real-world skills.
4. Final Interview
Following the assessment centre, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a final stage interview, where you will have the opportunity to meet senior members of the firm. During this stage, you will be asked to deliver a short presentation so we can get to know you better, followed by a series of technical interview questions designed to assess your legal knowledge and approach.
5. Offer
If it’s a match, we’ll invite you start your training contract and begin your route to qualification with us.
We usually have a trainee intake in Spring and Autumn. This intake will be for late September/early October 2026.
