Good Divorce Week: How Hughes Paddison Puts Families First

  • Posted

Relationships, divorce, separation and family matters are often highly emotional, and disputes can escalate quickly. At Hughes Paddison, our experienced Family Law team helps clients navigate these challenges with clarity, care and professionalism.

We are proud to have the largest family law team in Gloucestershire, with sixteen dedicated professionals who have accumulated over 120 years of experience covering every aspect of family law. Under the leadership of Senior Equity Directors Jennifer Allen and Jane Brothwood, our Family Team combine ability with an empathetic approach, ensuring our clients are supported through every stage of a separation or divorce.

Resolution Membership: Our Commitment to Constructive Practice

Four members of our team are proud Resolution members, including:

  • Jane Brothwood – Senior Equity Director
  • Jennifer Allen – Senior Equity Director
  • Julie Bennett – Director
  • Marcus Crawley – Associate

Resolution is a national community of family justice professionals committed to constructive, non-confrontational approaches. All members follow a strict Code of Practice, which guides their day-to-day work and ensures that the needs of the whole family are considered.

Being a Resolution member means we:

  • Reduce or manage conflict and confrontation, avoiding inflammatory language.
  • Support and encourage families to put the best interests of any children first.
  • Act with honesty, integrity and objectivity.
  • Help clients understand the potential long-term financial and emotional consequences of decisions.
  • Listen and treat everyone with respect and without judgment.
  • Use our knowledge and experience to guide clients through their options.
  • Continually develop our skills and apply the Resolution Guides to Good Practice

Even for team members who are not full Resolution members, this approach underpins how we work, ensuring all clients receive help from a supportive and fair process.

The Breadth of Our Expertise

Our Family Law team covers:

  • Divorce and separation.
  • Financial claims, including pensions and businesses.
  • Protection of assets on separation
  • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
  • Cohabitation disputes
  • Matters relating to children, including advising parents, grandparents and others with Parental Responsibility
  • Domestic abuse and protective orders

Hughes Paddison can also help with all related matters. Our Private Client team can help with updating Wills, our Property team with transferring property, and our Corporate and Commercial team can advise on restructuring family businesses.

Jennifer Allen, Senior Equity Director
