Welcome, Emma! Getting to Know our New Commercial Property Solicitor
We’re delighted to welcome Emma Harris, who has joined our expanding Commercial Property Team at Hughes Paddison.
Emma joins us with a strong background in commercial property and a real enthusiasm for the variety the work brings. She supports businesses, investment companies and developers with a wide range of commercial property matters, from buying and selling property through to leases, landlord and tenant matters and property portfolio management.
She also works closely with colleagues across the firm, providing commercial property support on wider corporate and commercial transactions.
Emma qualified as a solicitor in September 2023, having studied Law at the University of Nottingham before completing her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law. She trained with a national law firm, gaining experience across several areas including Commercial Property, Planning and Environmental, Corporate and Commercial Litigation.
Her experience gives Emma a broad perspective, while her particular interest lies in understanding the detail behind a client's property and helping to identify and resolve issues before they become problems.
For Emma, one of the most important aspects of being a good solicitor is making sure clients feel informed and understood throughout the process.
“I think clients really value clear communication and being kept up to date at every stage of the matter as this progresses.”
She also believes it’s important to take the time to understand the individual business behind the transaction – its needs, priorities and requirements – rather than simply focusing on the legal work in isolation.
That approach fits closely with the way we work at Hughes Paddison: providing straightforward, practical legal advice and building strong relationships with the people and businesses we work with.
If you’re considering buying, selling or leasing commercial property, Emma’s advice is simple: get your solicitor involved early.
“I would recommend instructing solicitors as early as possible in the transaction process.”
Getting the legal team involved from the outset means potential issues can be identified early, whether that’s a title defect, restriction on title or additional documentation that may be required.
Emma can also help ensure that the heads of terms accurately reflect the commercial agreement from the beginning, helping to avoid potential problems further down the line.
Joining a new firm is always exciting, and Emma has already received a warm welcome from the team.
She was attracted to Hughes Paddison by the supportive environment and the opportunities for professional development and is looking forward to getting to know both her colleagues and clients as she settles into her new role.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys making the most of the great outdoors. She loves coastal walks, exploring the Cotswolds and swimming – a nice balance to life in the office!
We’re thrilled to have Emma join Hughes Paddison and look forward to seeing her become an important part of our growing Commercial Property team.
If you’re buying, selling or leasing commercial property, managing a property portfolio or simply have a question about a commercial property matter, Emma and our Commercial Property team are here to help.
Why not say hello to Emma or get in touch with our team to discuss how we can help?
