Solicitors Hop Skip and Jump to it

A team of 11 lawyers from Hughes Paddison took a break from their desks to spend the day at local charity Hop Skip & Jump, at Seven Springs on Friday 18th April. Hop Skip & Jump provides play and support centres for children and the families of children with a life threatening illness, or special needs is Hughes Paddison’s chosen charity of the year.

As much of the site is outdoors, manual work is required in the spring and autumn and the Hughes Paddison team spent time laying fresh wood chippings in the playground, weather proofing equipment and brightening up the facilities used by the children with a new ‘lick of paint’.

The Directors of Hughes Paddison were delighted to give staff time off to help such a worthy cause. Gareth Parry commented “I am very proud of the team spirit shown, with our lawyers prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in for such a worthy cause”.

As well as providing practical help, Hughes Paddison will be donating money to the charity at the end of the year in accordance with our ongoing commitment to support the charity.

Section 21 Notices: deposit protection pitfalls

One of the more common mistakes is failing to comply with the tenancy deposit protection requirements fully. Many landlords will comply in part, by protecting the deposit, but then will not deal with the further requirement, namely serving on the tenant the details about the deposit protection; those details are called ‘the Prescribed Information’. Failing to serve the Prescribed Information can mean that a landlord will struggle to rely upon a Section 21 Notice.
