Hughes Paddison Training Contract Programme

Hughes Paddison Training Contract Programme

Trainees are important to our continued success, but we also know how valuable the experience to train in an established law firm that provides an array of legal services to its clients and businesses is to you too.

Training with us is exciting, interesting, challenging, and full of opportunity.

Our teams have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and love nothing more than guiding and supporting our trainees to develop the critical skills required to become a qualified solicitor.

Training Routes

We offer two differing routes to qualification:

1. Training contract

2. Paralegal with the potential to progress onto a Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship for the completion of the SQE

Training Contract

The training contract route is applicable to those who have completed or working towards completing the LPC and have achieved a 2:2 (minimum grade) law degree.

During your two-year contract you will gain experience in various areas of law.

You will spend sufficient time in each seat to make a meaningful contribution. Working alongside a director or senior solicitor, you will undertake a variety of good quality work to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need.

Attending and satisfactorily completing the Professional Skills Course is an essential part of the training contract. This is paid for by us and you are provided with paid time off to attend the course.

Subject to business requirements and seat availability, we may offer you the opportunity to join ahead of your training contract as a paralegal to help you gain further experience.

Graduate Paralegal with Potential Progression to the Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship

The graduate paralegal with potential progression to our graduate solicitor apprenticeship scheme is applicable to those who are looking to qualify through the SQE route and have achieved either at 2:2 law degree (minimum) or a 2:2 degree in a non-law subject with a minimum pass in GDL.

It is important that we provide you with the right conditions to help you flourish. This means we need you to be familiar with our systems, processes, practices and you have established yourself within the team.  You will join the business as a paralegal for a period of between 9-12 months, during which you will be given the opportunity to apply for a position on to the apprenticeship programme.

During the apprenticeship you will undertake a number of seat rotations within different areas of law. You will be provided with paid time off for your studies including the development of a portfolio based on work-related activities you have completed.

This is an alternative route to qualification and provides you with the opportunity to gain practical ‘hands on’ qualifying work experience alongside completing the SQE1 and 2.
