Claire is a conveyancing assistant with many years of experience in residential property conveyancing. Assisting Heidi Aitken in the Residential Property team, Claire is involved with all types of residential property work, including freehold and leasehold sales, purchases and remortgages.

In her spare time Claire enjoys reading, swimming and walking in the Gloucestershire countryside.

Landlord's dispensation for major works: getting it right

Many residential landlords will be familiar with the requirement to consult with tenants before major works are carried out. The landlord's right to seek dispensation from the Tribunal where it has failed to consult is perhaps less well understood. In a recent Upper Tribunal appeal, Hughes Paddison successfully challenged the First Tier Tribunal’s interpretation of the law. New Digital LPAs- A welcome reform or a minefield

The OPG registered a record 1,073,032 LPAs in 2022-2023. Concerns over the paper-based system led to reforms, culminating in the Powers of Attorney Act 2023 for a safer and simpler process.
