Rachel is the Head of our Litigation Department, and one of the owner/managers of the firm. Rachel is also a part-time Judge, in the Business and Property Court in Birmingham. She has been a solicitor since 1999, and a Judge since 2013.

Rachel helps companies, directors, shareholders, business partners and trustees, as well as individuals, in a broad range of disputes.  Her work as a Judge gives her an invaluable insight into how these disputes are dealt with in court, so that she can ensure clients’ cases are put forward in the most advantageous way.

Experience

• Successfully applying for an emergency injunction against a fraudster when he threatened to sell stories about her client to the media, using confidential information he had inveigled from her while posing as a friend.
• Successfully defeating a high value claim against her client (an individual), both in the High Court and Court of Appeal, involving the proceeds of a Liechtenstein trust fund.
• Bringing a successful claim against solicitors who had previously represented her clients (a couple) in a professional negligence claim against architects, where the solicitors had then been negligent themselves, making her clients’ circumstances worse rather than better.
• Successfully defending a trial against my client (a partnership) for trademark and copyright infringement, and passing off, following a long running dispute between rival estate agents in the Cotswolds.
• Successfully defeating a high value, long running case against a manufacturing company in multi-party proceedings in the High Court in Belfast, and being the only party to recover its legal costs from the unsuccessful claimant.

Outside of work

Outside of work, two crazy Silver Egyptian Mau cats and a clutch of ex-battery, rescue hens keep Rachel entertained.  Rachel loves yoga, and escaping to Portugal as often as possible.
