Today the Government have announced there will be new legislation in divorce law. This new law will update the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 in due course. It will mean that, in the future when the legislation comes into force, divorcing couples will no longer have to ‘blame’ each other for the breakdown of their marriage. It is hoped the new law will help reduce family conflict.
Registering your business’s name and/or logo as a trade mark can be an important way to safeguard your most valuable asset.
Failure to do so can provide an opportunity for others to copy you, and to confuse your customers about who does what, intentionally or otherwise
You can register a trade mark to protect your brand and identity of your product or service. When you register your trade mark, you’ll be able to:
- take legal action against anyone who uses your brand without your permission, including counterfeiters
- prove that the brand is yours and warn others against using it
- sell and license your brand
Our team of lawyers can help you with your trade mark application, from the initial steps of identifying whether it’s possible to register the mark and how best to do so, to advising on any adjustments required to make it possible, through to making the actual application. We’ll ensure you fully understand the application and registration process, and the costs involved in it, before you commit to taking any action.
Once your trademark is registered, we’ll help you protect it if others threaten to infringe it, and provide legal representation should you need to take further action.
