Today the Government have announced there will be new legislation in divorce law. This new law will update the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 in due course. It will mean that, in the future when the legislation comes into force, divorcing couples will no longer have to ‘blame’ each other for the breakdown of their marriage. It is hoped the new law will help reduce family conflict.
We have significant experience in this area, particularly through our Head of Department, Rachel Stewart, who has handled many complex and hard fought cases of this kind.
Such claims have included international banking corporations accused of miss-selling financial products; financial advisers accused of professional negligence in respect of investment advice; allegations of sham and nomineeship concerning trusts and foundations in the UK and overseas; unjust enrichment claims; professional negligence claims against accountants and auditors for the failure to detect fraud.
This area of law is multifaceted and technically difficult, and our expert team will offer you unbiased, clear and practical advice to help you resolve your dispute.
Working with tried and tested leaders in the fields of document recovery, expert evidence, and the Bar, when the case requires it we can establish a team of professionals to help you tackle your case, however daunting the task may seem. We pride ourselves on helping clients in a “David and Goliath” scenario, where they face a large and well funded opponent with resources which vastly outstrip their own. Equally, we are used to acting for large organisations who become embroiled in situations that require delicate, commercial handling, where the challenges are more strategic than financial.
We will seek to exhaust all possible avenues before litigation, in order to prevent you throwing good money after bad. However, should you need to go to court, we’ll be there to fight your corner and provide the necessary support and guidance throughout the legal process.
